CONFIDENCE & LOW SELF-ESTEEM THERAPY IN NJ

Therapy for people who want to grow in confidence and embrace their true selves.

Do you often feel “not good enough”?

Make yourself small in order to fit into others’ lives & expectations?

Tired from trying to do and be everything you’re “supposed” to?

You have high standards for yourself and your life, so you’ve worked hard to make it to where you are today—from the outside, it may even look like you’ve got it all figured out. But inside, you actually feel a deep sense of insecurity, shame, or uncertainty about who you are, what you want, and where you’re headed.

You are perfectly imperfect.

I want to help you confidently embrace every part of that—the good, the bad, and the in-between.

It can be difficult to disrupt patterns of self-criticism and self-doubt, especially when holding yourself to high standards has, in many ways, served you well in the past. But there comes a point when being hard on yourself starts to actually impede your progress, causing you to question your worth or value when things don’t go as planned.

Counseling for self-esteem is focused on helping you first understand what’s brought you here—what systems have impacted how you feel about yourself? What experiences from your childhood might have influenced this? Many of the systems and norms we were raised in can end up being harmful, leading us to adopt unhealthy thoughts & beliefs about ourselves and the world around us. Through therapy, you can begin to free yourself from these unhelpful standards (and the shame that comes with them) to begin embracing the real, true, authentic you.

Together, we can work on:

  • Disrupting patterns of shame or self-doubt

  • Improving self-talk, body image, and more

  • Advocating for your needs & desires in relationships

  • Increasing confidence and assertiveness

  • Understanding the impacts of systems, family norms, and other parts of your past

  • Embracing your inner strengths, resilience, and resourcefulness

Let’s replace shame & self-doubt with pride & self-love.

FAQS

  • One of the benefits of counseling is the awareness you gain: you can learn to recognize and reduce negative self-talk while also gaining insight into why these things are happening to begin with. This is an important part of the work I do with clients: helping you see the whole picture of the ways that your past, society’s norms and expectations, and other elements of your experience have contributed to how you’re feeling.

In addition to this awareness, we also focus on strategies: tools to help you recalibrate your self-talk, manage anxious or critical thoughts and feelings, and set boundaries that honor you and your needs.
